Transcendence

“The concept of being entirely above the created universe.”

We often feel transcendent when under the influence of an outside substance. Intoxication is a gateway to self worth. We believe we soar higher than any other being. We feel the blood rush away from our extremities, the tips of our fingers fade away. Our mouths become cathedrals, our words echo as we exhale. We discover things about ourselves, our bodies and our surroundings that seldom exist in sobriety. We find new teeth. They lie. They are in fact teeth that we never wrote down. Our eyes reflect the sunburst as we trace the broken clouds for cryptic messages. We spend what seems like hours trying to decode them. We eventually blink, the colours of our surroundings become desaturated and lose all power.

A slow trickle of blood to the brain. A dry swallow.

We become infected with a virus, a personality implant. The God gene. We are untouchable, we attach reigns to the world and hoist its power. We are in full control of everything around us. We believe for a few sweet moments that the world is our kingdom. We refuse to believe there is such a thing as pain in a kingdom we have created.

We subconsciously refuse.

An electrical surge, Our world falls silent and colourless and we begin to fall. We no longer control our actions, We do nothing but fall. We do nothing but feel. Our kingdom burns beneath us.

Ultimately, We Fall, Silent.

Unbeknownst to Reality.
